French Press

A French press is a device used for making a delicious coffee. It is a cylindrical glass vessel fitted with a filter plate on a plunger. This coffee maker is popular in Europe and Australia and making in-roads to America and other parts of the world. Most coffee lovers will testify how great and valuable French presses are. They are also known as coffee plunger, press pot and coffee press.
Although there have been so many automatic coffee makers appeared in the market for convenience, many people still believe that coffees prepared from the coffee press are more flavorful. By allowing the coffee grounds to blend together with the water to the press, you will produce a stronger and thicker coffee while capturing more of its flavor and essential oils.
How to prepare the coffee?

A French press requires a medium to course grind coffee as finer grounds will just seep through the filter and clogged. To start, fill your kettle with cold water and let it boil up to 190 to 205 °F. When the water reaches its enough temperature, you can then start brewing the coffee. Put together the grounds and the hot water into the vessel. Most of the coffee grounds will float, so gently stir the water and let the grounds sink. After that, place the plunger over the press but don’t press it totally down yet. Allow the brewing process last for 3 to 4 minutes. Now, take the plunge and slowly push the plunger down to filter the coffee. By doing this carefully, most of the grounds will be trapped under the filter of the plunger, making your brewed coffee have a smoother taste. After, turn the lid and pour gently the coffee into your cup and enjoy. For other options, you can also add creams or sugar if desired. Just remember, don’t let the brewed coffee stays on the press for longer period.
Having a French press at home is a great idea. Anytime, you can prepare your favorite coffee drink and enjoy it whenever you want. Coffee presses are portable, so you can even conveniently carry them anywhere you want to go and prepare your coffee around. What’s good about them is they don’t require any electricity for them to be used, so they can be a great item when you are in any outdoor activities or camping. By mastering the brewing process, your friends will be amazed by watching you brewing coffee right in front of their faces. It can also even be a great idea to use the press for extra income.
There are many manufacturers that offer French presses in the market. Although the most common type of press is built with glass, you can also find some coffee presses that are made with stainless steel, like that of a thermos, for keeping the coffee hot.
Aside from brewing coffee, French press can also be used in place of a tea infuser for brewing loose tea. With all the benefits of this wonderful coffee maker, no wonder why today it’s becoming more and more popular.
