  • The Filter Basket. It has a central tube where the pump stem is inserted. This holds the ground coffee and has small holes which keeps the ground coffee in the basket and allows the liquid to pass through.
  • The Spreader Cover. This is a round lid that covers the filter basket which creates a shower effect on the grounds below. This also prevents the coffee grounds from splashing upwards.
  • The Lid. For a stovetop percolator, the lid is often made from a glass or plastic that allows the user to see what happens inside. This is also designed to tell users when to stop brewing. However, electric percolators often don’t have a clear lid as they have built-in timers that automatically stop when brewing.

Several companies produce different designs that will help users extract well their coffee. An electric coffee percolator usually has electronic button which requires less monitoring but still provide great taste of coffee. However, if you are using a stovetop percolator, you must watch the brewing process to ensure that the coffee brewed properly. Stovetop percolators are also perfect to bring in during camping or out of town trips. It takes several experimentation to achieve the taste you want for your coffee.
